T. G. Masaryk – the weightiest decision

July 8, 2014

“Every voluntary act corresponds to the character of the human agent and is the more characteristic the weightier it is for the person. Now there can scarcely be a weightier decision than that of life or death, and it is therefore clear that suicide corresponds in a distinctive way to the whole character of the individual (who commits it); and right in this regard, it is a question of the judgment which the individual can pass about the worth of human life for the universe and especially for mankind. This decision is man’s verdict about the world.”
